Weather you are parents with babies, toddlers or young children or grandparents looking to give the kids a treat, Coombe Mill is perfect for you. Located along the river Camel between Bodmin Moor and the North Cornwall beaches, Coombe Mill was originally an old working watermill. This now forms the backdrop for a beautiful and secluded hamlet of picturesque holiday cottages, Scandinavian log cabins and riverside lodges. Children just love the freedom of the farm at Coombe Mill. Come and join the daily tractor and Trailer ride with farmer Nick. Discover all about the animals, deer, ponies, donkeys, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, quail, ducks and rabbits.


The morning feeed run is a great oportunity to really get involved from driving the tractor to hand feeding the animals and collecting the eggs for breakfast. In spring time there are often baby lambs or goats to bottle feed while baby rabbits and chicks love a cuddle all year. Great fun for kids and great educational value too. Watch them develop their understanding of nature and the outdoors in a way that supports the school and early years national curriculem.

Making friends comes naturally, as well as the morning animal feed run, children meet up in the purpose built play areas; one especially for the very young, and the indoor play barn will keep children busy from dawn to dusk. The natural environment with its streams, meadows and woodland walks in this stunning estate makes a safe natural playground to explore whilst the peace and beauty of the estate provide true relaxation for parents.


All 7 of our picturesque cottages look out onto beautifully landscaped gardens and many have their own private gardens as well. The riverside lodges are set in a lovely large open field with beautiful views over the river and valley to the front and the wooded valley to the rear for relaxation and a sense of peace and calm. Designed for today's modern family, our Scandinavian log cabins are new, contemporary and spacious.

With two fishing lakes children can learn while parents perfect their fishing skills. Equipment is available to hire and fishing is free of charge and for the exclusive use of Coombe Mill guests.

Self Catering made Easy
Enjoy locally produced produce and holiday staples delivered to your property from the local village shop ready for your arrival. Then delve into our chest freezer and sample the delights of delicious home cooking with nothing more do do than defrost and pop in the oven. There is something for everyone with family favourites like shepherds pie and fish pie and sophisticated meals for grown ups like veneson in Red Wine or Gammon in Cider. With portions for 2 and 4 and always a good vegitarian selection you can mix and match to meet all the families needs. With puddings, cakes and cream teas also on offer you certainly won't be stuck for what to eat! Milk, eggs, bread and cream are always in the fridge and the whole shops runs on a simple honesty book. Just help yourself and write it in the book, nothing could be simpler, a refreshing change in todays modern world!

Coombe Mill's location, near St Breward, Bodmin, makes a perfect base for exploring Cornwall. Just a short drive from Coombe is the spectacular North Cornish coast with lovely white sandy beaches, just perfect for buckets and spades. Many beaches have easy access and good facilities for young children so you can really enjoy a full hassle free beach day. The pretty harbour villages like Padstow are a must as well as famous attractions like the Eden Project, Lost gardens of Heligan and King Arthur's castle at Tintagel, not to mention many other children specific fun attractions.
